CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) vehicle segment has witnessed significant growth in India in recent years. These alternative fuel vehicles are favoured for their cost effectiveness, high fuel efficiency and reduced carbon footprints. Maruti Suzuki is leading the segment with nearly 71.60 percent market share, followed by tata, Hyundai and Toyota. Recently, Renault joined the CNG bandwagon by offering dealership level CNG kits for the Kiger, Triber and Kwid. Now, Nissan is all set to introduce its first CNG vehicle in the country – the Nissan Magnite CNG.
The Nissan Magnite CNG will hit showrooms by April, 2025. It will be offered with the 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine and a CNG kit available at the dealership level. The authorized Nissan dealers will provide a 1-year warranty for the CNG kit. The RC (Registration Certificate) will also be updated by dealers to show the conversion. Nissan will source the CNG kit from the Uno Minda Group. The mileage figure of the Magnite CNG is expected to be around 18 to 22 kilometre per kilogram. However, the exact power and torque figures of the CNG setup are still under the wraps.
At present, the Nissan Magnite lineup comes in 18 variants, priced from Rs 6.12 lakh to Rs 11.72 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The SUV’s CNG kit will worth an additional Rs 79,500 over their regular petrol variant.
