Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO are two of the latest entrants in India's compact SUV segment. Kylaq was just launched, promising this with its impressive feature set and competitive starting price. The existing choices like XUV 3XO offer a well-established user preference, especially for the variants that the XUV 3XO offers and ample safety features. Here is a detailed comparison to help you decide in favor of any one of these sub-4-meter SUVs.
Skoda Kylaq features a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine under the hood that has a capacity of 113.42 bhp as well as 178 Nm of torque. This one comes mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic for maintaining silky motion in the town.
Whereas the Mahindra XUV 3XO is available both in petrol and diesel choices. The petrol variants include 1.2-liter turbo petrol and a TGDi engine delivering the power output of 108.49 bhp with 200 Nm torque and 128.30 bhp with 230 Nm torque, respectively. Its diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit and churns out 115.39 bhp and a healthy 300 Nm of torque. Diesel power seekers will find that the XUV 3XO has more flexibility than the rest so it could be the stronger contender in the matter of engine options and torque.
Kylaq features most of the premium touches, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless charging, a single panoramic sunroof, and cruise control. Even the safety features are quite solid: six airbags and an electronic stability control system along with a monitoring tyre pressure system.
Top-of-the-line Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's information display, and Level 2 ADAS, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Both SUVs deliver impressive safety and comfort, but it's topped off by the XUV 3XO and its additional technological upgrades, such as a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Skoda Kylaq has been launched at an introductory starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and offers the variant, which makes it competitively priced in its respective segment that it will compete in. The full pricing details are to be revealed on 2nd December 2024, and deliveries will start in January 2025.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is priced starting from Rs 7.99 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs 9.99 lakh for the base diesel variant, and the top-of-the-line petrol model stands at Rs 15.49 lakh.
Both these SUVs will compete with the popular models on sale like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue. The Kylaq has a new design and an entry price to compete for its share, while the XUV 3XO offers a name more in vogue with more engine options and more sophisticated safety features, selling to a wider base.
