Skoda’s upcoming mid-size sedan Slavia will be launched on the 28th of February 2022
Skoda Slavia which is the next offering by the Czech automaker for customers in India will be launched on the 28th of February 2022. The company has revealed almost all information pertaining to the mid-size sedan which will be replacing the Skoda Rapid in the Indian market. According to Skoda Auto, the launch of the Slavia will be divided into two phases. The first phase will see the introduction of the 1.0-litre TSI petrol variants on the 28th of February followed by the 1.5-litre TSI petrol trims being launched on the 3rd of March 2022. Test drives and deliveries will begin soon after these introductions.
Built on the MQB AO platform, the Skoda Slavia is similar looking to its elder siblings the Skoda Octavia and Superb. Looking at its dimensions, then the mid-size sedan measures 4541 in length, 1752mm in width and 1847mm in height. While its wheelbase stands at 2651mm which is the longest in its class thereby providing ample space for passengers seated towards the rear. Its key exterior design highlights would include a typical Skoda hexagonal grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps alongside L-shaped LED DRL’s, 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels, C-shaped LED taillights and a Skoda badge on the boot lid. The use of chrome throughout the profile of this vehicle pushes its premium appeal even further.
The sedan is going to be offered in 3 variants namely Active, Ambition and Style. Its interior will provide features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus there will be ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a full digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof to name a few. Safety equipment on board the top of the line variant would include a rear parking camera, six airbags, hill hold control (will be offered as an optional fitting), ESC and Electronic Differential System (EDS).
Powertrain options available in the Slavia would include two turbo-petrol units. One would be the 1.0-litre 3 cylinder petrol engine capable of delivering a maximum power output of 115 bhp with 175 Nm of peak torque. While the other would be a 1.5-litre 4 cylinder unit churning out 150 bhp and 250 Nm torque. It will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. As for the automatic transmission options, there will be a 6-speed torque converter in the 1.0 TSI variant while the 1.5 TSI trim will provide a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
