Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated Curvv EV at a starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh. The company has announced that the prices of the Curvv ICE version will be released on September 2, 2024. The SUV Coupe is offered with 5 engine options including 2 battery options, 2 petrol engines and 1 diesel.
This is not the end, Tata Motors is going all out with the Curvv to gain maximum traction among different sets of buyers. To further raise the bar, Tata Motors is actively considering Curvv CNG. We reported earlier that Tata Curvv could receive a CNG option at a later stage. Now, officials have confirmed that the SUV Coupe's design is compatible with CNG powertrains.
Before Curvv CNG, Tata Motors will launch the Nexon CNG that debuted at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. The Nexon CNG is expected to be launched in the last quarter of this financial year, most probably in January. It will also mark the debut of a turbocharged petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Tata Nexon CNG is likely to receive the 1.2L turbo petrol engine that powers the Curvv and the Nexon. It is not the direct injection engine that debuted in the SUV Coupe. The Nexon's 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces 118bhp and 170Nm of torque. With a CNG kit, the power and torque output will be reduced significantly.
The same powertrain is likely to be offered on the Curvv CNG. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG and the Toyota Hyryder CNG.
It is available with 3 engine options - 118bhp, 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol, 116bhp, 1.5L Kryotec diesel and a new 123bhp, 1.2L direct engine turbo petrol. All three engines are offered with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option.
On the other hand, the Tata Curvv EV is available with two battery options - a 45kWh and a 55kWh, offering a certified range of up to 502km and 585km, respectively, on a single charge.
BYD Seal EV is awarded "EV of the Year 2024" in Japan, making the company win consecutively for the second time with its styling, performance, and range.
