We reported earlier that Tata Motors will launch the new Sierra EV in the second half of 2025. The pre-production concept was showcased at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. We expect the closer to production model will debut at the next edition of Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. Tata has also confirmed that the Sierra ICE version will also be launched in the country.
A new media report claims that the ICE versions of the Tata Sierra will be launched in the country in the second half of 2025. Tata Motors will be following the EV-first philosophy, which has recently been implemented with the launch of the Curvv siblings. Tata first introduced the Curvv EV followed by the launch of the ICE version.
Tata Motors will first launch the Sierra EV in the mid-2025 followed by the ICE version in the late 2025. The new Sierra lifestyle SUV is likely to be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine that also powers the Harrier and Safari. This engine is capable of producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The petrol version will mark the debut of Tata's new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which was unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo. This T-GDI petrol engine produces 168bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will also be on offer.
The ICE version of the Tata Sierra will be based on the ATLAS platform, which stands for Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture. The Tata Curvv SUV Coupe is also based on this platform. This platform is capable of supporting multiple body styles including SUVs, sedans, Coupe SUVs, and hatchbacks. The ATLAS platform will be used to manufacture vehicles measuring between 3.9 meters and 4.6 meters in length.
The Tata Sierra will measure around 4.3 meters in length and will be introduced as a premium lifestyle SUV. It will come as a premium alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in the category. Tata Motors confirmed that the production version of the Sierra will look largely identical to the original concept.
