The EVs have been dominating the Indian market, but recently at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo something else caught the eyes of many. Flex-fuel vehicles are the type of cars/SUVs that are powered by a blend of ethanol and petrol. Brands like Hyundai, Mahindra, and Tata showcased flex-fuel editions of their current models.
Let's go through the list of flex-fuel cars unveiled in 2025.

The Creta lineup by Hyundai has now moved beyond just being an SUV powered by turbo petrol, diesel, and electric to flex-fuel. The automakers showcased the flex-fuel Creta edition which is compatible with running on a blend of up to E100 i.e. 100 per cent ethanol fuel. This shows the commitment of the brand to evolve further and into a greener future of mobility.

Mahindra unveiled the XUV 3XO Flex-Fuel edition which is powered by a 1.2-litre, turbocharged engine operating on petrol blended with ethanol on 20:85 proportion. The car is claimed to deliver 110 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. It offers the same design and features as the current model, not comprising anything.

Unlike the other flex-fuel models that can handle up to 80% ethanol, this version of Tata Punch can run 100% on ethanol. The Tata Punch Flex Fuel comes with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine (86 bhp and 115 Nm of torque) as its standard counterpart though this time it would be tuned for ethanol, ensuring it is far cleaner than petrol.

Along with the other vehicles above, Toyota unveiled two flex-fuel edition vehicles. The Innova Hycross is one of them, as it is claimed that there will be no change in the power output. The car will be powered by a 2.0-litre, NA petrol engine (143 bhp with 188Nm of torque) and an electric motor.

The other one from Toyota is the Corolla Altis to be showcased in the flex-fuel edition. As for the design, it stays the same with sleek LED headlamps by a chrome strip and a large bumper. It comes with a 1.8-litre petrol engine (100.60 bhp and 142 Nm of torque) and a 1.3kWh battery electric motor (73 bhp and max torque of 163Nm).
