Toyota plans to launch the Hilux Rangga SUV in Indonesia next year. Based on the Hilux Rangga pickup, it offers a more affordable take for buyers who want to acquire a tough, family-friendly SUV.
The Hilux Rangga SUV was first introduced as a concept vehicle. Toyota Indonesia has now confirmed that the production model will follow closely with the concept but only with a few minor changes. The SUV will come in a simple and functional design with conventional doors, featuring a 3-row, 7-seater layout, ideal for bigger families. At launch, it might offer several seating options to cater to buyer requirements.

Inside, the Hilux Rangga SUV will be equipped with air conditioning, a touchscreen infotainment system, and dual front airbags for safety. The concept featured LED headlamps and 16-inch alloy wheels, but these features may change in the production version.
Hilux Rangga SUVs will draw from the very same mechanical configuration like those of its pickup cousins, which naturally makes the ride rear wheel drive (RWD) system. SUVs in the lot shall come as two engines-the 2.0-litre petrol or the 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engines. For transmissions, users of these units are presented with either of the 5-speed manual or auto system.
It would ride on the IMV platform just like the Toyota Fortuner and Innova Crysta. The exact dimension of the SUV is still unknown, but the wheelbase of the Hilux Rangga pickup, at 2,750mm, is the same as that of the Fortuner. This would therefore translate to the same interior room and handling as the Fortuner but at a slightly cheaper price.
The Hilux Rangga SUV is going to be an affordable alternative to the Toyota Fortuner. It will be a great choice for families looking for a budget-friendly SUV in Indonesia, with its spacious interior, solid performance, and practical features.
