Toyota is set to introduce two new SUVs in India this year. The automaker is ready to introduce the new-generation Fortuner and the Land Cruiser Prado in the Indian market. Both of these models will feature new features, better performance, and hybrid technology.
Toyota Fortuner is among the best-selling SUVs in India. In 2025, Toyota will launch a new model of the Fortuner with mild-hybrid technology. This model will be more efficient on fuel and deliver better performance than the existing one. The Fortuner will come with a 2.8-litre diesel engine and a 48V mild-hybrid system. The combination will churn out 201 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. The new hybrid model will also provide improved throttle response and driving smoothness owing to the idle start-stop functionality.
The Fortuner MHEV will be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will have both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain systems. The SUV will be constructed on the TNGA-F platform, which will provide improved performance and stability. Design-wise, the 2025 Fortuner will undergo some improvements. It will include a vehicle stability control system, hydraulic steering, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for increased safety.
Apart from the Fortuner, Toyota will also introduce the Land Cruiser Prado in India during the fourth quarter of 2025. It is a high-end SUV that will be brought in as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU). Land Cruiser Prado's price in India is likely to be between Rs. 1.7 crore to Rs. 1.95 crore.
The Indian Prado engine details are still to be officially announced. Yet, in some markets such as Europe and Japan, the SUV is offered with a 2.8-litre diesel motor along with a 48V mild-hybrid unit and an 8-speed automatic transmission. In markets such as North America and the Middle East, the Prado is offered with a 2.4-litre petrol-hybrid powerplant.
The Prado will feature some of the high-end features including a big touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and electrically adjustable driver seat. It will also feature wireless charging, second and third row AC vents, and other luxury features. The design of the SUV will feature square LED headlights, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and rain-sensing wipers.
