As per a latest media report, Honda Cars India will be globally unveiling its new midsize SUV on the 6th of June 2023. Codenamed the 3US, the upcoming SUV could be named the Elevate, and is slated to go on sale in India first, followed by other international markets. If you have been planning to buy a new mid-size SUV, you may want to wait a couple of months to check out Honda’s latest offering.
Recently revealed spy shots of the test mules give out a fair idea of what the vehicle could look like. Unlike the Honda CR-V and BR-V, this one will offer a fresh design, Key attributes would include a tall and flat front end, upright proportions, and squared-off edges. The vehicle will also offer elements like sharp LED-headlights, flared wheel arches, and chunky black body cladding all around.
The New Honda SUV will be underpinned by the same platform as the current 5th-Generation City. However, it will feature modifications to suit the SUV’s needs.
As for the powertrain, the automaker is likely to provide a 1.5-litre petrol engine with the vehicle while a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid could be introduced a bit later. Both manual and automatic transmission choices will be available with the four-wheeler.
The highly anticipated Honda SUV will be revealed on the 6th of June, 2023. However, it will go on sale in India only a couple of months later in August, with production starting from July.
Honda Cars second attempt is a more serious one in entering India’s crowded and increasingly-growing mid-size SUV segment. To make sure it turns heads, the brand may price the upcoming SUV quite aggressively. Expect prices to start from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), going up to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will compete against the likes of the Kia Seltos, ŠKoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Hyundai Creta.
