Kia planning multiple hybrid SUVs for India Seltos, Sonet, Sorento and Carnival hybrid models expected Hybrid demand continues to rise in India

Kia is getting ready to expand its hybrid vehicle lineup in India over the next few years.

As demand for fuel-efficient SUVs continues to grow, many buyers are now looking at hybrid cars as a practical option before fully switching to electric vehicles. Kia already sells several hybrid models in global markets, and some of them are now expected to make their way to India as well.

The company is reportedly planning to introduce four new hybrid SUVs and MPVs in different price segments. These upcoming models could include the Carnival Hybrid, Seltos Hybrid, next-generation Sonet Hybrid, and Sorento Hybrid.

Kia Carnival Hybrid Could Arrive Next Year

The Carnival Hybrid is expected to become Kia’s first hybrid MPV for India. Globally, the model uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. Together, the setup produces around 245 hp and 368 Nm of torque.

Power is sent through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Carnival Hybrid is likely to come to India as a fully imported model, which means pricing could stay above the current Carnival’s Rs 75 lakh starting price.

Kia Seltos Hybrid May Rival Grand Vitara

The Kia Seltos is already one of the company’s best-selling SUVs in India, and a hybrid version could help it compete more strongly against hybrid rivals like the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara.

The international version of the Seltos Hybrid gets a 1.6-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor. The setup produces around 141 hp and 265 Nm of torque.

Reports suggest Kia could launch the Seltos Hybrid in India during the next financial year.

Next-Gen Sonet Could Also Get Hybrid Power

Kia is also expected to introduce a hybrid version of the next-generation Sonet in the future.

The new Sonet itself is likely to arrive around 2027, while the hybrid variant could follow by 2029. The current Sonet does not get a hybrid setup globally, but the next-generation platform may support electrified powertrains from the beginning.

If launched, the Sonet Hybrid could become one of the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs in its segment.

Kia Sorento Hybrid Could Join Premium SUV Segment

Kia is also preparing to bring the Sorento Hybrid to India.

The premium three-row SUV uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and electric motor combination internationally, producing around 230 hp. It also gets a six-speed automatic gearbox and optional all-wheel drive.

The Sorento Hybrid is expected to arrive in India around early 2027 and could be priced above Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Like the Carnival Hybrid, it may also come as a fully imported model.
