In this article, we bring you sales numbers for the top 3 car manufacturers in the Indian market in September 2025. Tata Motors regains the second spot and creates history in terms of sales last month, while Hyundai SUVs accounted for over 72% of total brand sales. Mahindra is at third position with over 56,000 SUVs dispatched in September 2025.
Tata Motors surprised everyone by selling over 60,000 cars for the first time in the month of September 2025. The company reported a total sales of 60,907 vehicles (Domestic + Exports), registering a year-on-year sales growth of 47 percent.
In the domestic market, the homegrown passenger vehicle maker dispatched a total of 59,667 cars in September 2025, reporting a YoY sales growth of 45 percent. In the passenger EV segment, Tata Motors sold a total of 9191 electric cars in the month of September 2025 and recorded a YoY sales growth of 96 percent.
Mahindra has created a history in the September 2025 sales. The company has sold 56,233 SUVs in the domestic market, which is the highest for the brand. Mahindra has reported a YoY sales growth of 10 per cent. In the same month last year, the SUV maker had sold 51,062 units in India.
The company exported 4,320 vehicles in September as against 3,020 units in the same month last year, reporting a growth of 43 per cent.
Hyundai sold a total of 70,347 vehicles in the month of September 2025, which is a YoY sales growth of 10 percent. The company had reported a total sales of 64,201 units in the same period last year. In the domestic market, the Korean brand sold 51,547 vehicles as against 51,101 units in September 2024.
The company exported 18800 vehicles last month as compared to 13,100 units a year before. SUVs accounted for 72.4 percent of total Hyundai cars sold in September 2025. The Hyundai Creta records its highest-ever monthly sales of 18,861 units, while the Venue reported a 20-month high sales volume of 11,484 units in September 2025.
