India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Hyundai is planning to launch an all-new compact SUV, which could be heading to India very soon. The Hyundai Bayon is already available in the European market, and now it's going to launch in India. It takes most of the cues from the very popular i20 hatchback and may share a lot of underpinnings with the same. Hyundai's decision to introduce a hybrid powertrain option could make it the first Hyundai hybrid model in India.
The 2026-bound Bayon will sport a unique front grille, divided headlights, and a lower air intake. At the top, it has LED DRLs. Towards the side, there is an arrow-shaped C-pillar and sloping roofline, accompanied by a strong beltline across the body in black plastic cladding, and arrow-shaped LED tail-lights towards the back as well.
The global version of the SUV is about 4.2 meters in length. But the Hyundai Bayon for India would be under 4 meters long to keep taxes under control. It has a wheelbase of 2580mm, similar to the India-spec i20 hatchback.
The latest tech features may include a 10.25-inch digital touchscreen equipped with standard BlueLink connectivity, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and over-the-air updates. Safety-wise, Hyundai has also added Level 1 Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) featuring forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, lane following assist, and driver attention warning.
Bayon is codenamed Bc4i and its local launch is expected in the 2026–27 financial year. In the line-up below the Hyundai Venue, it will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The expected ex-showroom pricing would start at just under Rs. 10 lakh for the base variant and Rs. 16 lakh for top-of-the-line variants.
Performance-wise, the Indian variant could get a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 83hp and 114Nm of torque, along with a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine producing 118bhp. Transmission options would include manual and automatic units.
