India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Hyundai Cars is planning to expand its EV lineup in India, which currently consists of the Kona EV and the Ioniq 5. The automaker is planning to introduce a pure-electric version of the Creta SUV in our market soon. Now, the latest spy shot has revealed what the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV may look like.
Hyundai is already slated to introduce the Creta facelift by the first quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, the Creta EV has been spied on before, but it did not reveal any exterior changes as the test mule was based on the current model. However, the new leaked pictures that have emerged give us a first impression of the Creta EV’s design, which features different styling to the upcoming Creta facelift.
Unlike the ICE model, the Creta EV will get two larger C-shaped LED DRLs, tweaked headlights and a closed-off front grille. The side profile will remain largely unchanged except maybe for new aero-efficient alloy wheels. At the rear, the Creta EV may get slightly redesigned taillights and an updated bumper. The test mule in the spy shots also features a faux exhaust pipe, which is unlikely to make it production.
Moving inside, the Creta EV’s interior will be very similar to the new facelift’s design, except for a few EV-specific changes. These include a fully digital instrument cluster and a repositioned gear selector lever from the centre console to the steering column.
While Hyundai is yet to reveal a launch date, reports suggest that the Creta EV will make its global debut by the second half of 2024. Expect the electric SUV to be introduced in India by early 2025 at the latest. Upon launch, the Creta EV will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki eVX, the automaker’s first EV.
