Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most advanced, futuristic, and tech-loaded electric cars we have in India. It’s the first Hyundai EV in India to be based on the brand’s E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) that’s compatible with larger-capacity batteries, offering a range of up to 500 km. This dedicated BEV architecture is claimed to offer great versatility in terms of performance, battery placement, and cabin space.
The Ioniq 5 has a very modern design with sharp creases and a bold stance. It features parametric pixel LED headlamps, a distinctive clamshell hood, 20-inch alloy wheels, and flush door handles. Sophistication is another word for its interior, packed with lots of premium features and a minimalistic design approach.
The Ioniq 5 comes in a single, Long-Range RWD variant, powered by a 72.6 kWh battery and an electric motor. This variant is currently available at Rs 46.05 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a minimalistic design inside the cabin as well, featuring a flat floor, a sliding centre console, and flexible seats. The carmaker says it has used recycled plastic for its fabrics and eco-friendly leather for seat upholstery.
The electric SUV comes with a plethora of advanced tech, including a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, power-adjustable seats with lumbar support, ventilated and heated front seats (for both driver and passenger), power sliding and manual reclining functions, heated rear seats, all seats with memory seat configuration, a panoramic roof, Hyundai BlueLink connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system, ambient sounds, dual-zone FATC with auto defogger, wireless phone charger, and many more.
The Ioniq 5 has a commendable road presence with an overall length of 4,635 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, and a height of 1,625 mm. The electric SUV has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It offers a large boot space of 527 litres, which can be further expanded by folding the rear seats. The additional storage space allows you to carry bigger luggage or items such as camping gear, sports equipment, etc. You also have a small frunk with a usable capacity of 57 litres.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the safest electric SUVs we have in the country. It has scored a five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP, excelling in the adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, and safety assist categories. The SUV’s Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite ensures safety for all its occupants.
It provides access to several advanced safety features such as lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot collision warning and avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance warning and assist, smart cruise control with stop & go, and lane following assist. The Ioniq 5 also offers 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control.
The powertrain setup of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 consists of a 72.6 kWh battery offering an ARAI-claimed range of 631 km on a single charge. It also has an electric motor delivering a maximum power of 217 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. You get a RWD (rear-wheel drive) system with it. Its battery can be juiced up with the superfast 800V charger from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
The electric SUV’s 72.6 kWh battery promises a range of 631 km (ARAI-rated). However, its real-world range stands around 475 km.
You can have the Ioniq 5 in four classic colours: Optic White, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey, and Gravity Gold Matte. There are also two interior themes: Dark Pebble Grey and Obsidian Black.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 competes with multiple EVs, including Kia EV6, BYD Seal, BMW i4, and Volvo C40 Recharge.
