India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Renault’s sister brand Dacia will be unveiling the next-gen Duster globally on 29 November 2023. The new SUV will be sold with Renault branding in some markets like India starting in 2025. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Duster gets a fresh design, overhauled interior and updated powertrain options. We take a closer look.
The all-new Renault Duster will get a boxy and squared-off design that will look more rugged than the outgoing model. Spy shots have revealed the SUV will get Dacia’s new design language, featuring a new grille and badge, sleek Y-shaped LED headlights and taillights, new alloy wheels and more. However, the Duster when it arrives in India as a Renault, it will have some subtle design differences.
Based on Renault cars CMF-B Platform, the automaker will also launch a 3-row sibling of the Duster, likely to be named the Bigster. Given how popular 7-seat SUVs are in India currently, Renault may bring the new SUV to our shores as well.
The next-gen Duster will be offered with up to three powertrain options globally. This includes a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol making 140 bhp of max power or a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol making 170 bhp of peak power and is flex-fuel compliant. Meanwhile, there will also be a 1.2-litre strong-hybrid option available, though details are yet to be revealed.
The next-gen Duster will likely go on sale globally by early- to mid-2024. It is expected to be introduced in the Indian market sometime around 2025.
Upon launch, the new Duster will rival the likes of the VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
