Nissan revealed the facelift version of the Magnite, which carries some minor design changes and a few more features inside. The Magnite facelift outweighs the old model in terms of safety and tech features. It is minimalistic indeed, but some revamping will certainly give it some much-needed appeal.
Let us compare the 2024 Nissan Magnite facelift with the old one in terms of price, specifications, design, and features.
The 2024 Nissan Magnite is offered at competitive prices, and the introductory ex-showroom prices start from Rs. 5.99 lakh and go up to Rs. 11.50 lakh. Strangely, the previous model was slightly the same in terms of base pricing at Rs. 5.99 lakh, and the top-end model came at Rs. 11.50 lakh. On account of consistent pricing, Nissan would be able to retain the edge in the compact SUV market under its belt while competing against Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Hyundai Venue.
The older Nissan Magnite, which had a bold design with a hexagonal chrome-accented grille, sleek LED headlamps, and boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, quite resembled an aggressive, strong car. Its side profile provided a view of the muscular shoulders and flared wheel arches provided some rugged cladding. The back showcased high-positioned LED taillights, a chunky bumper, and a sporty floating roofline.
Compared to this, the 2024 Magnite comes with some updated features. Those include an enlarged front grille that boasts more chrome highlights and a reworked bumper with fog lights that are closer to the centre, making it look sportier. While the side profile remains largely the same as the old one, the new 16-inch alloy wheel distinguishes it at the back. The new LED taillights placed connected with a chrome strip make the vehicle look more premium.
This older Magnite has an advanced and spacious design of its interior with a clean dashboard look, maximum display screen space from the central screen, a full-size touch screen, push-button ignition, and automatic climate control. Premium plastic, coated with leatherette, covers the upholstery of seats, and a few model trims are equipped with other attractions like a wireless charger, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera.
The interior of the 2024 Magnite features a two-toned orange and black theme, as opposed to the all-black scheme on the old model. The steering wheel and gear lever, as well as the dashboard, have now been further fitted out with leatherette material for a premium finish. Seat covers come in full black leatherette with orange stitching, but they also come with innovative features that include 4-colour ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a remote engine start. Most of the infotainment system and driver's displays remain the same as in the old model.
On the former Magnite, front dual airbags were provided as standard equipment. Furthermore, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, as well as a 360-degree camera on higher trims, safety features such as hill start assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system were included. The airbag count varied with each trim in the previous model.
The biggest upgrade is in the safety arena, as the car now comes with six airbags, which have become standard equipment on all variants, thus keeping the family and others around it safer. It keeps the same 360-degree camera and other safety features, such as ABS and EBD, but the addition of airbags helps make the new Magnite more family-friendly.
Both the new and old Nissan Magnite offer identical engine options. The naturally aspirated petrol engine churns out 71.01bhp and 96Nm of torque while pumping the 1.0-litre motor, whereas the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor makes an impressive 98.63bhp of power along with up to 160Nm of torque for the manual variants. Only the naturally aspirated is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT unit, whereas the turbocharged is available with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
The 2024 Nissan Magnite does not command a price increase but rather design improvements, more enhanced interior features, and added safety. Its existing engine and driving dynamics continue to be the same, but the new features and improved safety make it an even better value-for-money option in the very competitive compact SUV space. It will therefore be equally good to upgrade an existing owner or buy as a first-time customer.
