Kia Carens Facelift - What We Know So Far

Kia is currently selling 4 UVs - the Sonet, Seltos, Carens and the EV6 GT EV in the Indian market. All four models are hugely successful with a combined sales of around 22,000 to 25,000 units per month. In order to further increase sales, Kia is planning to introduce multiple new products including EVs, SUVs and MPV.  The company will launch a new compact SUV, which is rumoured to be called the Kia Syros. This model will be offered with both ICE and EV powertrains. Moreover, the next-gen Carnival and EV9 flagship electric SUV will be launched before the end of this financial year. Kia India is also preparing the Carens facelift and the electric derivative of the Carens MPV. Design Changes The Korean automaker, Kia will introduce the Carens facelift in the country in 2025. The new Kia Carens will come with significant design changes and an upgraded interior along with addition of new features. The MPV has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads.  The Kia Carens facelift is expected to receive significant design changes and an upgraded interior. The front fascia is likely to receive a slightly revised grille with jewel-type pattern & revised headlamp setup. The MPV will have a new bumper that accommodates a new air-intake. The MPV will have newly styled alloys and new rear bumper. The MPV will have new tail-lamps with a new LED pattern. Interior Changes   Details about the interiors are yet to be revealed. We believe that the cabin will receive maximum changes and will be designed in-line with the new Sonet and Seltos. The MPV is likely to get a new dashboard layout with Sonet-like touchscreen & digital driver's display. The Kia Carens facelift is also expected to receive advanced driver assistance system or ADAS tech. It will be the first model in its segment to offer this safety tech. Engine Options   The Kia Carens facelift will continue to be offered with the existing 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine options. While the former is good for 115PS and 144Nm of torque, the diesel engine produces 115PS and 200Nm of torqu. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 7-speed DCT. The MPV is also likely to retain the 160PS, 1.5L turbo petrol engine. Carens EV Details   Not just Carens facelift, Kia will also launch the Carens based EV in the Indian market in the second half of 2025. Codenamed KY-EV, the new electric MPV is likely to share the battery pack and electric motor with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.  Also See - Kia Syros Compact SUV - Top 5 Things To Know

Kia Syros Compact SUV - Top 5 Things To Know

The Korean automaker Kia is preparing multiple utility vehicles including MPVs and SUVs for the Indian market. The company will introduce the EV9 electric SUV and an all-new Carnival MPV. Moreover, the Carnival MPV will receive a mid-life facelift along with an electric derivative in 2025. Kia India is also working on an all-new compact SUV, which is rumoured to be called the Kia Syros. Kia has already trademarked the Syros nameplate in India. It was speculated the Clavis could be the name of the upcoming compact SUV, as this name was also trademarked in the country. However, we believe that the new model will be called the Kia Syros. The name starting with 'C' is not in sync with Kia's SUV line-up, as the brand's SUV line-up comprises Seltos, Sonet, Sorento, Sonic and Sportage.  Kia Syros Launch Timeline The new compact SUV is most likely to make its global debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. The production of the SUV is expected to commence in December 2024, while the launch is likely in the first quarter of 2025.  Design & Interior The Kia Syros compact SUV is rumoured to be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, and will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV. However, few reports claim that the small SUV will rival the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. More details will be revealed closer to its launch.  The spy images reveal that the new SUV sits under 4 meters in length. While the brand's Sonet and Seltos SUVs are offered with rounded styling, the new Syros will have a more boxy styling with flat bonnet and straight surfaces. The styling is more in-sync with the brand's flagship Telluride 3-row SUV & the Soul on sale in the International market.  Some of the design highlights include vertically positioned headlamps with uniquely styled daytime running lamps, split headlamp setup and the signature Tiger Nose grille. The headlamps split into three separate parts to create a jewel-like effect for their reflectors. The SUV has large glasshouse areas for an airy feel. The rear seems inspired from the EV9 SUV, as it has vertically stacked tail-lamps connected via a horizontal light bar.  Top Features The new Syros compact SUV will come equipped with several segment-leading features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver's seat and an advanced driver assistance system or ADAS tech. The ADAS tech will offer multiple driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and others. Not just ADAS, the Kia Syros compact SUV will come with a wide range of safety and security features. It will have six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360 degree surround view camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front parking sensors and rear disc brakes.  Engine Options The new Kia Syros is likely to be offered with the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Sonet. This engine is capable of producing 118hp of power and 172Nm of peak torque. It is likely to be offered with a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox options. The entry-level variants could get a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with a manual gearbox option.  EV version Not just petrol version, the Kia Syros is also expected to receive an electric derivative. The EV could be called the Clavis and is likely to be launched in the second half of 2025. The Syros electric is expected to receive a battery pack of around 40-45kWh with a front-axle mounted electric motor. We expect the new model to offer a range of around 350km to 400km on a single charge. Also See - How Reliable Are Hyundai Cars?
