Mahindra Scorpio N Diesel Variants Explained - Which One to Buy?

In this blog, we'll guide you in finding the best Mahindra Scorpio N diesel model in terms of price, features, and value. We will compare the Scorpio N, its variants, and their features with each other to see which cuts a better deal. The base version is the Scorpio N Z2 Diesel, which is available at a very attractive price of Rs. 14.24 lakh. For those looking for a feature and performance on top of the line, the Scorpio N Z8L Diesel 4x4 AT with a price of Rs 24.54 lakh is at the very top.  This blog explains the available diesel variants of Mahindra Scorpio N so that you may be able to know which one suits your budget and tastes the best. Whether you're looking for one of the most affordable options or the ultimate in luxury and capability, we'll outline the options available in this exciting new crop of SUVs. Pros and Cons of Mahindra Scorpio N Diesel Pros (Advantages): The Scorpio N has the best-in-class height, width, and brawny look that gives it a strong road presence. The only 3-row D1-segment SUV is built with a hard body on the framework, thus it can handle tough routes easily. Among the very few available 3-row D-segment SUVs, the Scorpio N comes with a 4-wheel drive, the other one being the XUV700. The 4WD is available in manual and automatic variations, which justifies its versatility. Cons (Disadvantages): There are no captain seats offered on the lower-rung variants of the second row. Some of the important features of these variants are missed, such as the Z6 doesn't have an AC automatically, LED projector headlights, or side airbags. The Z8 lacks front parking sensors and a front camera.  The captain seats with a wireless charging space for a phone, etc. are only available in the top Z8L variant with 4WD and automatic transmission.   Mahindra Scorpio N Diesel Variants Prices Mahindra has updated with the new prices of Scorpio N diesel variants, and most of the 2-WD get a simplified option between manual and automatic transmission. These are prices of the Z2 Diesel at Rs. 14.25 lakh, which currently commands Rs. 15.90 lakh as a manual and Rs. 17.55 lakh as an automatic. It's over Rs. 1.65 lakh more than that. The Z6 Diesel is available at a starting price of Rs. 16.86 lakh for the manual version and Rs. 18.55 lakh for the automatic variant, which costs Rs. 1.69 lakh more.  The Z8 Diesel is available at Rs. 19.30 lakh for the manual version and Rs. 20.83 lakh for the automatic variant, which costs Rs. 1.53 lakh more. Prices of the base variants of the Z8L Diesel begin at Rs. 20.95 lakh for the manual variant and go up to Rs. 24.54 lakh with an automatic version for the 4x4 model. As for the pricing, the automatic variants are Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.72 lakh more than that of the manual variants. There is also an option for the automatic version at Rs. 18.55 lakh with the Z6. All Scorpio N diesel models feature the more powerful 172.60bhp unit starting from the Z6 variant. The Z6 variant includes added features and a high-performance, upgraded engine over the Z4. Thus, it becomes a good option for those looking for more performance with additional features.                                              Mahindra Scorpio N Z6 Features over Z4 What3words for navigation Built-in Alexa Navigation Drive modes 3rd row cabin lights Silver skid plates SOS/call switch Telematics Wireless Android Auto 7-inch full-colour LCD instrument cluster Sunroof Silver roof rails Wireless Apple Carplay Hill start assist (Manual also) ESC (Manual also)   Hill descent control (Manual also)   Mahindra Scorpio N Diesel Z8 Variant - Price and Features Available only in a manual version, the Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 variant is priced at Rs 19.30 lakh, or Rs 1.53 lakh more than the Z6 Diesel variant priced at Rs 16.86 lakh. The Z8 is available in an automatic variant as well, and the prices are Rs 20.83 lakh for this variant, with a more marked increase in features and performance. Interestingly, there is also a Z8 Diesel 4x4, priced at Rs 21.37 lakh, which adds off-road capability to the car. In fact, the Z8 variant compensates for its higher price with a well-rounded packaging of features at a premium price, coupled with improved performance that makes it a very strong contender among buyers.                                            Additional Features of Z8 over Z6 2x side thorax airbags Auto headlamps Black and brown leather upholstery Power-folding mirrors LED DRLs Locking differential (4WD only) Chrome grille LED projector headlamps Keyless entry with push-button start/stop 2x curtain airbags Auto wipers 18-inch machined alloy wheels (auto only) Chrome door handles LED projector fog lamps Sweeping indicators 2-zone auto AC Leather steering Rear camera Leather gear lever Terrain modes Tyre pressure sensors Mahindra Scorpio N Diesel Z8L Variant - Price and Feature However, only the Scorpio N Z8L variant commands a price of Rs. 20.95 lakh for the manual version, while the Z8 Diesel manual variant commands a price of Rs. 19.30 lakh. The Z8L gets front parking sensors and a parking camera, among other good-to-have features that add up to comfort and convenience. It gives the same bang for your bucks as the Z8, so if you crave these extras, the Z8L is the way to go. The auto 4WD variant of the Z8L, at Rs 24.54 lakh, also gets a wireless phone charger.                                  Additional Features of Z8L Over Z8 Wireless phone charger (4WD + auto only) 7x speakers 17-inch machined alloy wheels (manual only) Front camera Sony sound system Subwoofer 6-way power driver seat Front parking sensors 4x tweeters Optional 2nd row captain seats Conclusion The right choice of the Mahindra Scorpio N Diesel variant depends solely on personal budget and the features desired. While all one's money can buy with affordability quotient and offering, the value-for-money set best lies in the Z4 variant. For a more advanced feature and better performance, while still not shelling much extra, the upgrade lies well in the hands of the Z6 variant. For an ultimate experience, the Z8 package offers one full package: comfort, technology, and safety. So, for most buyers, this is the flagship recommended. However, if you are looking for the A class in the Scorpio N, then the Z8L package comes with its own host of luxury features that can make your driving experience richer, especially with options like 4WD and automatic transmission. Generally, the Z4 offers great value, the Z6 has a balanced performance, and the Z8 or Z8L is suitable for those who are primarily after a premium SUV experience. It just depends on which variation will suit best for your needs and budget. Also Read: Why Toyota Hilux Is A Best Lifestyle SUV In India - 10 Reasons

Penalties for Underage Driving in India: Complete Guide

Penalties for Underage Driving in India: Complete Guide

Underage driving is a huge problem in India that children and parents must clearly understand. During the past two years or so, the Indian government has enforced severe penalties that limit this issue not only upon underage drivers but even extend it to hold the parents or guardians liable for the same. Here's what they are and the liabilities of underage driving. What is Underage Driving? The term underage driving is used for those who are below the age to drive. In the case of India, the age one attains to drive also depends on the type of vehicle one is driving.   Age: 16 years: The age for gearless two-wheelers. They must not have an engine capacity of more than 50 cc. 18 years: It applies to all other vehicles with a higher engine capacity like cars, gears, and motorcycles Anyone who drives under this legal age of driving is considered an underage driver. They also attract fees in terms of penalties. Underage Driving Penalties The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 was amended in the year 2019. Under these amended provisions, some stringent punishments have been included against underage drivers. Some of them are as follows:  A fine of Rs. 25,000: Minors driving are liable to face a fine amounting to Rs. 25,000. Imprisonment: The minor may also face up to 3 years of imprisonment. Revocation of the right to drive legally: A minor, once caught, would not be allowed to apply for a driving license before the age of 25, effectively losing the right to legally drive for several years. These punishments are an attempt to deter the juvenile from driving without a valid license. Parental or Guardian Charges Indian law also vindicates the parents or guardians for abating a minor from driving: Fines: Parents/guardians of minors driving can also be fined Rs. 25,000. Imprisonment: Parents can face up to 3 years in prison for this offense. Confiscation of Vehicle: Authorities can confiscate the offending vehicle. Owner Liability: In cases where the car is owned by some other person besides the parent, like a friend or some close relative, then, under the law, the owner of the vehicle may be penalized as well. Why Such Harsh Punishments? The severe punishments are linked to the growing number of road accidents in India as a consequence of underage driving. Underage driving accounted for nearly 1.2% of the road accidents in the country. Underage driving is largely careless, endangering not only the minor but other road users as well. Additional Penalties and Legal Implications Apart from the fine and imprisonment, there are other implications of underage driving: Insurance Claims: When an accident is caused by a minor, the insurance company normally has the right to deny the claims that would be raised on the vehicle's insurance. Most insurance policy provisions contravened since they prohibited driving without having a valid license. Criminal Charges: When accidents cause injuries or death, the minor and his or her parents are likely to be taken for criminal charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. They may even be charged with causing death by negligence (Section 304A of the IPC) when the accident results in death. Preventive Measures Parents and guardians should take preventive measures so that their children do not drive illegally. This may include: Teach children road safety and the consequences of underage driving. Protect keys to your vehicle. Be a good example and obey traffic rules. How to Contest a Penalty In case a challan (fine) has been wrongly issued, the parents can appeal on the Parivahan website via the virtual court feature. They will be allowed to file for an online hearing that will be reviewed by a magistrate to determine whether or not the fine or penalty was issued fairly. Conclusion Underage driving is much more than a mere technical violation. It's a serious safety issue on the roads. It is accompanied by very serious punishment for minors as well as their parents, in the form of heavy fines and imprisonment, both for allowing and indulging in underage driving. All those concerned must understand these laws and steps to avoid such situations. It is through India's new Motor Vehicles Act that the country speaks out strongly; underage driving poses a grave danger and will be dealt with stern punishment to ensure highway safety for all.
