Toyota Kirloskar has just introduced the all-new Vellfire premium MPV in India. The automaker was reportedly slated to launch it around September but has decided to bring it here pleasantly early. We take a closer look.
The all-new Vellfire looks familiar as it remains quite similar in appearance to the outgoing model. At the front, the extra-large six-slat grille is flanked by a sleek LED split headlight setup. The bumper has a new full-width chrome strip that connects the headlamp units. Moving to the side, the Vellfire features a single-unbroken glasshouse unit with blacked-out pillars, chrome garnish, and a prominent kink. The rear end of the MPV gets V-shaped LED taillights with more prominent Vellfire badging and chrome trim,
Toyota has given the new Vellfire’s interior a more minimalist look with reduced physical buttons. Most of the functions have now been moved to the 14-inch infotainment system. Since the MPV is mainly designed to be chauffeur-driven, the rear passengers get a new seat design that is more comfortable, an overhead console to control various functions for the passengers, increased number of AC vents, and new pull-down shades.
The 2023 Toyota Vellfire will be available in two trim levels, Hi and VIP. The latter variant is also available with an Executive Lounge package that adds heated and ventilated captain seats for the middle row and retractable tables. Furthermore, it gets a detachable control panel that allows passengers to adjust the media, climate, and sunshade settings. Other notable features include wireless charging, 8-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, a HUD, over 60 connected car features, and ottomans for the second-row seats (Hi variant).
Toyota has also added its Safety Sense ADAS suite in the new Vellfire. It gets features like lane trace assist, blind-spot monitoring, pre-collision safety system, and adaptive cruise control,
Powering the new Vellfire is a strong-hybrid motor that pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. Combined, it makes 193 bhp with 240 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by an e-CVT automatic transmission. Toyota claims a fuel-economy figure of 19.28 kmpl.
Prices for the Vellfire start from Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom) for the Hi model, going up to Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom) for the top VIP model with the Executive Lounge package.
