When it comes to planning a family trip, a big SUV is all you think about. Modern seven-seater vehicles in India have also come a long way from the humble days of the Maruti Omni. At present, there are many models that offer seven-seater configurations in the country. One of the leading manufacturers in this space is Mahindra & Mahindra. Some of the popular 7-seater Mahindra SUVs include the XUV700, Bolero, Scorpio N and the Scorpio Classic. According to the January 2023 sales report, Mahindra was the fourth best-seller after Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motor. The Indian automotive company secured a 66 percent increase in YoY sales. It recorded 33,040 units, up from 19,860 units sold last year in January 2022. Mahindra Scorpio and Bolero SUVs helped in boosting the company's sales.

Mahindra XUV 700

The XUV700 is among the safest cars in India. It received a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant protection and a 4-star rating for child occupant protection in June 2022. The brand has managed to sell 6000 units of the model every month that currently commands a waiting period of around 15 months.

The SUV is powered by two powertrain options; a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former engine can generate 198 bhp with 380 Nm while the latter one can deliver a power output of 183 bhp with 450 Nm. Both engine options are mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

With seating capacity for seven, the SUV comes equipped with best-in-class safety features. Its ADAS features include Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Smart Pilot Assist, Autonomous Emergency Brakes using both radar and camera, High Beam Assist, up to seven airbags, and more.

The 7-seater XUV700 is priced from Rs 13.45 lakh (ex-showroom) which can go up to Rs 25.48 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Bolero

Bolero is one of the top-selling models from Mahindra in India. While the model is unpopular in the metro cities, it has developed a cult following in the rural market for its superior flexibility and reliability.

The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine which can generate 74 bhp of maximum power output with 210 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is potent enough to carry seven people while returning the impressive mileage of 16.7 kmpl.

Mahindra has provided a bunch of features on its 7-seater Bolero. It includes a Bluetooth-enabled music system with USB and AUX connectivity, air conditioning, a digital instrument cluster, a power steering wheel, and power windows. It also gets ABS with EBD, dual airbags (Driver, Front Passenger), and a rear-wheel drive option.

Talking about the prices, the 7-seater Bolero is priced from Rs 9.53 lakh (ex-showroom) which can go up to Rs 10.48 lakh (ex-showroom).

Scorpio N

Scorpio N

The New-Gen Scorpio-N is among the latest products launched by the company in India. Designed to deliver a next-level driving experience with thrilling performance and intuitive features, the model commands a waiting period of nearly two years.

The vehicle offers 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel engines. The petrol engine makes 200 bhp and 370 Nm, while the diesel engine produces 170 bhp and 400 Nm. It is mated with both manual and automatic transmission options.

The mid-size SUV also has received a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult occupant protection. However, for the child occupants, it only received a 3-star rating. Apart from that, it has got some standout features like an electric Sunroof, Cruise Control, Wireless Phone Charging, 12-speaker 3D Sony Sound system, Anti-Lock Braking System, and more.

Prices for the 7-seater Scorpio-N start at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) which can go up to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Scorpio Classic

Another 7-seater offering from Mahindra is the Scorpio Classic which is offered in two trims; S and S11. The SUV comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AUX and Bluetooth connectivity. On the safety front, it gets ABS, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, and more.

The Scorpio Classic is offered with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that can deliver the maximum power out of 131 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The model is priced from Rs 12.64 lakh (ex-showroom) which can go up to Rs 16.14 lakh (ex-showroom).
