While the first generation was already popular, the company introduced a minor facelift model in 2019 with the switch to BS6 emission norms. This update brought with it a new front grille, a different design for the alloy wheels and some feature additions on the inside.

As the facelift model started to show its age, Maruti Suzuki introduced the second-generation Baleno at the start of 2023. This new model brought with its a slew of changes including new headlights, a flatter nose and many segment-first features. The 2023 Baleno also became the first model in the segment to offer features like HUD, 360-degree camera and more.

Baleno’s Sales Growth Over the Years

The Baleno made a significant impact in the Indian market right from its launch. It secured 23,875 sales units in the same year which continued to increase over the years. In 2019, it crossed the cumulative sales mark of 183,863 units in India, indicating its strong market acceptance and customer demand. According to the latest sales report, the hatchback garnered 18,733 sales units in May 2023. The car clearly marked a growth of 34 percent over the 13,970 units sold in May 2022.
