MG Motor India is a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Chinese automotive manufacturer SAIC Motor that markets its vehicles under the British MG marque. In India, the company launched its first product, MG Hector in 2019 which is based on SAIC Motor's Baojun 530. Post that, MG Motors introduced Hector Plus in 2020 in the country which was updated in 2021 and 2023 as well. Even at Delhi Auto Expo 2023, the company showcased a lineup of its production-ready cars from its portfolio including the Euniq 7, MG5, MG4, and MG Air.

The 2022 Gloster received some mild upgrades over the previous iteration. The full-size SUV, MG Gloster was priced between Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 40.78 lakh (ex-showroom). The model is offered in three trims; Super, Sharp, and Savvy with the option of 6/7 seater configurations. It is powered by two diesel engines; a 2.0-litre turbo (159 bhp and 373 Nm) and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo (212 bhp and 478 Nm). While the former is two-wheel drive, the latter comes with a four-wheel drive option. Both engine options are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The most-loved model from the brand, MG Hector Facelift was launched at Delhi Auto Expo 2023. It retails between Rs 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 21.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is offered in five trims; Style, Smart, Sharp Pro, Smart Pro, and Savvy Pro. The facelifted Hector is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (141 bhp and 250 Nm) and a 2.0-litre diesel (167 bhp and 350 Nm) engine. Both powertrain options are paired to a 6-speed manual as standard. However, an optional 8-speed CVT is being offered with the petrol option.

MG showcased its hydrogen fuel cell MPV, Euniq 7 at the Auto Expo 2023. The seven-seater MPV is likely to be launched in 2025. As confirmed by the company, the premium MPV will be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell that can produce a power output of 201 bhp. It is also claimed that its high-pressure hydrogen unit takes only 3 to 5 minutes to refuel. The interesting fact is that the model will deliver a range of up to 605 kms. Other details will be revealed once the model is launched in the country.
Another upcoming model to the MG's lineup is MG 5, an electric estate that is currently on sale in the European market. The brand has not revealed its variant options yet. The car is equipped with a 61.1 kWh battery that delivers a range of 402 kms. Moreover, it powers the front-mounted electric motor which is capable of producing 153 bhp of power output with 256 Nm of peak torque. Further, the model can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger.

Alongside MG5, the company also showcased the MG4 EV at the Indian Motor Show. Based on SAIC's modular scalable platform, the born-electric car was globally revealed in 2022. Currently, the automaker is evaluating the car for India. As informed by the company, the MG4 could be launched by 2024. The expected ex-showroom price of the hatchback is said to be Rs 30 lakh onwards. Internationally, the model is powered by two battery packs; 51 kWh (167 bhp and 250 Nm) and 64kWh (200 bhp and 250 Nm). The smaller battery unit of the MG4 EV is capable of delivering a maximum range of up to 350 kms while the larger one can offer a 450 kms range.
MG Motor India is also preparing to launch another electric vehicle, MG Air. Essentially, it is a rebadged version of a Wuling Air EV which is currently on sale in Indonesia. The 2-door electric car is likely to be launched by May 2023 in India. And, to keep the price competitive, it is likely that the company will source the battery pack locally from Tata AutoComp. Besides, the electric vehicle is expected to come with two battery packs; 17.3 kWh and 26.7 kWh. The larger battery can offer a claimed range of 300 kms while the smaller version will deliver 200 kms of range. Both battery packs will be mated to an electric motor which can produce 38 bhp of power. Once the EV is launched in India, MG can set its starting price around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
