Taller, more Space, more to the point and more of an SUV; the all new Mercedes Benz GLA is here and we have our eyes on it. The more entertaining, simpler, and smaller Mercedes in the G series has finally arrived. The SUV cum hatchback like look provided is all because of the added visual bulk to the vehicle. The more curviness and the muscular look of the vehicle, though being a mini-SUV stands out in the market. The all-new Mercedes Benz GLA comes with a higher roof of roughly 10 centimeters and the 235/50 R19 inch wheel adds to the overall look of the vehicle.
The new model kept some of the original recipe but improved in most areas where flaws were discovered, demonstrating that if you want to succeed in this business, you must truly listen to your customers. The new model is larger in almost every way, with a fresh design, cutting-edge technology, and a more SUV-like feel than ever before. And those with a keen eye can see it from the moment they lay their eyes on it. The exterior design is influenced by current Mercedes-Benz trends, but the short, angled hood and greenhouse shape immediately indicate that this is a front-wheel-drive vehicle.
That isn't to say, however, that it doesn't look good. From the outside, it has a simple, clean design that fits in perfectly with current Mercedes-Benz trends. Elegant lines run throughout the front end, including inside the headlamps, with DRL elements that match the rest of the lineup. Short overhangs give the car a sporty appearance, which is enhanced on the sides by character lines running front to back, giving the impression that the GLA, despite its practical nature, can also go pretty fast. The taillights, which are very similar to those found on the GLE or GLB models, are the part of the car that reminds you the most about its origins and manufacturer.
This wasn't a Mercedes-AMG GLA45 S, but a more practical GLA 220d 4Matic that would have been the best of the range if diesel engines were still popular in Europe. But don't worry; depending on where you live, there are a variety of engines to choose from. From the new 1.33-liter 4-cylinder petrol developed with Renault-Nissan to 2-liter petrol options like the GLA 200 or GLA 250, as well as the AMG bad boys, there's something for everyone. The 2-liter diesel one, on the other hand, surprised me with its versatility and low levels of NVH.
This GLA 220d is equipped with a brand-new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that was first seen on new-generation Mercedes models with a transverse engine layout. The cog-swapper, as expected, rushes to get you into a higher gear as quickly as possible, and I never noticed the sixth gear while driving at only about 40 mph. As a result, the engine rarely exceeds 2,000 RPM, causing it to hum quietly beneath the hood. A noticeable rumble enters the cabin whenever you exceed 2,500 RPM, but this is a rare occurrence, especially in town.
