In 2022, Lamborghini crossed the 400-unit sales milestone in India. It is said to have achieved 86 percent growth compared to 2020. The company could chalk up its success to its popular products such as Urus, Aventador, and Huracan. However, Urus has been the highest-selling model among others. Thanks to its powerful engine that has become increasingly popular in India.

Why Lamborghini Urus is the highest-selling model in India

Lamborghini Urus has been the catalyst for doubling the company volumes, as stated by the brand. In 2022, Lamborghini had the best year ever as it set a new record with the Urus SUV as the best-selling model in a very short period. Since the SUV made its market debut in 2018, around 20,000 units of Urus have been produced till 2022. Since then, the model has continued its appeal in the market. In fact, many people who buy a Lamborghini in India for the first time, tend to pick the Urus SUV as their first Lamborghini car.

The reason is that the Urus is the perfect complement to the super sports model range that is providing a luxurious and high-performance daily drive. The Urus comes equipped with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that can churn out 641 bhp of power output and 850 Nm of peak torque. Its powertrain is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Besides, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kms in just 3.6 seconds. Prices for the Lamborghini Urus hovers between 3.15 crore to 3.43 crore (ex-showroom) in India.

The sports-car maker currently sells 5 models in India. It includes Huracan Evo, Huracan Evo Spyder, Huracan STO, Huracan Tecnica, and the Urus Performante.

The starting price of a Lamborghini car falls in the range of Rs 3.71 crore and goes up to Rs 5.74 crore. Huracan Evo is the cheapest model, priced at Rs 3.71 crore. In contrast, the most expensive model from the brand is Huracan STO, which retails at Rs 5.74 crore. Prices for the other Lamborghini cars like the Urus Performante stands at Rs 4.86 crore, Huracan Tecnica (Rs 4.65 crore), and Huracan EVO Spider (Rs 4.07 crore).

The company is believed to be working on bringing hybrid and electric versions to its sports cars in the coming future. Recently, Lamborghini discontinued the pure V12 combustion engine in view of bringing hybridisation of their whole product range by 2024. In addition, the best-selling Urus SUV will get an electric update by the year 2029.
