First launched in 2019, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is the brand's entry-level tall-boy hatchback in the country. This model has received positive response from car buyers, as MSIL managed to sell over 3 lakh units in less than 5 years.
The 2024 Maruti S-Presso is a good choice for many first time car buyers in India. It offers affordability, fuel efficiency and practicality. Here are the top reasons why you should opt for Maruti Suzuki S-Presso as your first car:
The Suzuki S-Presso is built on the light-weight HEARTECT platform that also underpins the new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. The compact hatchback has a tall and upright stance, which is liked by many in semi-urban and rural India. In terms of proportions, the S-Presso is 3,565mm in length, 1,520mm in width and 1,567mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,380mm.
Despite being compact in size, the new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso offers an impressive ground clearance of 180mm. The high ground clearance allows this entry-level hatch to tackle bad Indian roads. This is highly appreciated by rural and semi urban commuters, as they frequently encounter rough and uneven roads. Also, it offers a boot space of 240-litres which is very useful while doing long routes.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is designed and offered as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Renault Kwid and the Maruti Alto K10. It is available in 4 trims - STD, LXi, VXi, VXi Plus - priced in the range of Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 6.12 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback also proves to be affordable when it comes to service and maintenance.
The Maruti S-Presso is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that dishes out 66bhp of power and 89 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) unit. The hatchback comes with an idle start/stop technology, which further enhances its fuel efficiency.
The S-Presso manual version is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 24.76kmpl, while the AMT version delivers a mileage of 25.30kmpl. In the CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 55.92bhp and 82.1Nm, respectively. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the S-Presso CNG is claimed to offer an impressive fuel efficiency of 32.73km/kg.
This entry-level hatchback offers decent comfort and convenience features. It comes fitted with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with smartphone connectivity, and a semi-digital instrument console. Other features include keyless entry, reverse parking sensors, manual air conditioning, and the steering mounted controls among others.
Safety features include dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, electronic stability program, engine immobilizer, child safety lock, speed alert system, ABS with EBD and others
