As we bid adieu to the 2023-2024 financial year, major automotive manufacturers have geared up for the start of the 2024-2025 financial year with a slew of new releases. The auto industry has been buzzing with anticipation and enthusiasts cannot wait for the curtains to be lifted off the new models from Toyota to Tata to Maruti Suzuki, and beyond. Let’s take a closer look at the vehicles that are set to launch in April 2024.
Toyota is set to unveil an exciting new crossover named the Taisor on 3rd April. This model is essentially a re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, making it the fourth Maruti vehicle to be re-badged by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) in India. While the Taisor will retain the overall design of the Fronx, it will feature some subtle exterior modifications, particularly at the front, along with the prominent inclusion of the Toyota logo throughout.
In terms of features, it is expected to inherit the same impressive set of equipment found in the Fronx. This will include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, 6 airbags and a 360-degree camera setup.
As for powertrain options, it is likely to offer the same choices as the Fronx. These will include a 1.2-liter petrol engine generating 90 bhp and 113 Nm of torque, and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol producing 100 bhp and 148 Nm of torque. Transmission options may encompass a 5-speed manual gearbox for both engines, a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) for the 1.2-litre unit, alongside a 6-speed automatic transmission for the turbo petrol variant.
Additionally, a CNG powertrain offering 77 bhp and 98.5 Nm of torque coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox is also a possibility.
Mahindra is all set to begin the year with the launch of the facelifted XUV300. This revamped version of the XUV300 would be called XUV 3X0. It has undergone significant design revisions to offer a refreshed look and enhanced appeal.
Upfront, the facelifted XUV300 will showcase stylish LED headlights, a redesigned grille, and updated alloy wheels.
Moving to the interior, it is expected to offer notable improvements like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster and an electronic parking brake with auto hold feature. The highly sought-after panoramic sunroof is also anticipated to make its way into the facelifted version.
Under the hood, the compact SUV is expected to retain the current powertrain options. This includes a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 110 bhp / 200 Nm torque along with a 1.5-litre diesel mill generating 117 bhp/ 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox.

Skoda Auto is making a comeback with the Superb sedan this month. The sedan will be brought back to our shores through the Completely Built Up (CBU) route.
Skoda Superb is expected to come with the same set of features as before, and the company might even add a few more creature comforts to make it an even more luxurious option for customers.
The 2024 New Superb will showcase a potent 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, delivering 190 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will be equipped with a 7-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission for smooth shifting. It will also come laden with Advanced Driver Assistance Technology (ADAS), an electronic sunroof, a premium infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple carPlay, a wireless phone charger and a 360-degree camera system.
Force Motors is ready to launch the rugged rival to Mahindra Thar in the offroader SUV segment for 2024 - the Force Gurkha 5-door.
Recently, the manufacturer teased the upcoming SUV indicating that the launch is nearby. The Gurkha 5-door comes with a longer wheelbase and an additional set of doors compared to the current model.
It also features some design revisions both on the exterior and interior. Inside, the SUV will offer a 3-row seating layout with bench seats for the second row and captain seats for the passengers in the third row.
It is expected to come with similar features as the 3-door model, including a 7-inch touchscreen, manual air conditioning, and dual front airbags.
In terms of performance, the company is likely to retain the same 2.6-litre diesel engine generating 90 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque from the current version of the Gurkha. However, it might be tuned for a higher output. The engine is expected to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The launch of the fourth-generation Suzuki Swift in India is one of the most awaited launches of the year. Maruti has redesigned the vehicle inside-out giving it a smarter and more stylish appearance while still retaining its familiar charm.
The upcoming Swift is said to be loaded with impressive features, including a large 9-inch touchscreen display, automatic air conditioning, diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, and blind-spot detection.
Moreover, the New Swift may also get Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety.
Under the hood, the homegrown automaker is likely to equip the Swift with a powerful 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, capable of generating 82 bhp of power and 108 Nm of peak torque. The engine is said to be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox, ensuring smooth and efficient performance.
What's more, rumours are circulating that the upcoming hatchback might also come with a mild- hybrid version and optional all-wheel drive system.

Volkswagen recently introduced two new variants of its Taigun SUV, the GT Plus, and the GT Line that are about to be launched in the country. Prices will be revealed soon.
The GT Plus comes with additional features like a Carbon Steel Grey roof, red GT branding on the front grille, fender, and tailgate, along with black leatherette upholstery with red stitching and red GT logos. It is equipped with a powerful 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, and it is paired either with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed twin-clutch DSG gearbox.
On the other hand, the GT Line offers a 1.0-litre mill that churns out 114bhp with 178 Nm of torque. Transmission options here include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
On the inside, it sports black leatherette upholstery with grey stitching.
Both variants feature 17-inch 'Cassino' black alloy wheels and come with several premium features to elevate the comfort and driving experience.
