India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Maruti Suzuki, the country's biggest automobile manufacturer, is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company had introduced the New-gen Swift, which has received an overwhelming response from car buyers. It became the top-selling car of the country in May 2024 with over 19,000 units sold.
The company is preparing to launch two more models in the country before the end of this financial year. The new Swift's sedan sibling, the Maruti Dzire will soon enter the new generation. Adding to it, the Indo-Japanese brand will enter the electric vehicle space with an all-new electric SUV based on the eVX concept.
For those looking to drive home a new Maruti car, here are two upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars that will be launched in the market before the end of this year.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the next-gen Dzire in the third quarter of 2024, most probably by August-September. The new model has already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The fourth-gen model will come with new exterior styling and an all-new feature-loaded cabin.
The new-gen Maruti Dzire will come equipped with more features and tech compared to the new Swift. The cabin of the sedan will be shared with the new Swift, featuring a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and new colour combinations. Adding to it, the sedan will come with more premium features including a 360 degree surround view camera and an electric single-pane sunroof.
The styling of the new Dzire will be different from the new Swift. It will have a different front grille, new bumper, and sleeker headlamps. The sedan is also likely to get new alloy wheels. The new Dzire will come fitted with a new Z-series 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that dishes out 80bhp and 112Nm of torque. This motor will be offered with a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
The new-gen Swift is only offered with a petrol engine option. However, the company is preparing to launch the CNG version of the new Swift. The next-gen Dzire will also receive a CNG derivative. The new Swift CNG will get the same 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine with a manual gearbox. Expect significant drop in power and torque outputs. However, the Swift CNG could return a fuel efficiency of 32km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the electric SUV based on the eVX in the end of this financial year. MSIL will locally manufacture this electric SUV at Suzuki’s Gujarat-based manufacturing facility. This unit will also work as an export hub, as the new model will be exported to select global markets including Europe and Japan. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota partnership is aiming to locally assemble battery packs and electric motors. The new electric SUV is built on an all-new skateboard platform, which is jointly developed by Suzuki and Toyota.
The concept was 4.3 meters long, and was based on a 2.7 meters long wheelbase. This electric SUV will rival the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv and the Hyundai Creta EV. It is expected to be offered with two battery pack options - a 48kWh and a 60kWh. The top-spec model will be packed with a 60kWh battery pack featuring an LFP blade cell. It is likely to be offered with a range of up to 500km on a single charge. The smaller battery pack model is expected to offer a real-world range of up to 400km on a single charge
