JSW MG Motor India aims to achieve top place in the New Energy Vehicle space or the emerging electrified vehicle segment. Furthermore, the carmaker is focusing on expanding its product portfolio and investing in manufacturing and distribution. In line with its strategy, the company has announced its high-end brand – ‘MG Select’ – which will see four model launches over the next two years. The first luxury vehicles – MG Cyberster and MG M9 – are scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2025.
Both these luxury electric offerings were showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Bookings for the Cyberster will be opened in March, while the M9 electric MPV pre-bookings commenced with its public debut in January. Deliveries of these EVs will begin in April 2025. Check out all the key details of the upcoming MG cars.
The Cyberster will be the first electric sports car from MG, and the most affordable sports car in India. It will come as a fully imported unit and is estimated to be priced at around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Cyberster will be offered in a single, top-end variant, featuring a 77kWh battery pack and one motor on each axle with AWD configuration. This setup delivers a claimed whopping 510bhp and 725Nm of torque. This electric sports car accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds and promises a range of 580km (CLTC cycle).
The new electric sports car from MG comes with a host of advanced features such as a 10.25-inch driver’s display, a flat-bottom steering wheel with octagonal ‘MG’ logo, two 7-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera, LED lighting system, 20-inch alloy wheels (as standard), bumper with a split diffuser in black finish, arrow-shaped taillamps connected via an LED light bar and scissor doors. It also comes with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite offering front collision warning, blind spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keep assist.
The MG M9 will be the brand’s second MG Select exclusive model, which is expected to cost around Rs 65 lakh. In global markets, this luxury electric MPV is sold as Mifa 9. The powertrain setup consists of a 90kWh lithium battery pack with a front motor and FWD system. The electric motor pushes out a maximum power of 245bhp and 350Nm of torque. It offers a claimed WLTP range of 430km on a single charge. This electric MPV measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,840 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm. This makes it larger than the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire.
Similar to its global-spec Mifa 9, the M9 in India will be offered with 7 and 8-seat configurations. The MG M9 carries a typical MPV-ish stance with a large glass house and an upright nose. Inside, it offers goodies such as twin sunroofs ( a single pane for the front and a dual-pane for the rear), rear entertainment screens, powered rear sliding doors, powered front and rear seats with heating, ventilation, massage functions, and many more features.
