Intense Fight Between Mahindra, Hyundai and Tata For 2nd Spot in India

The Indian auto industry has witnessed a big change in the past couple of years. Earlier, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai were the top two manufacturers; however, things are changing rapidly. Homegrown automakers, Mahindra and Tata Motors are growing at a fast pace and have already defeated Hyundai multiple times in the past two years to grab 2nd position in the list of top car makers in India.

February 2025 sales brought a major reshuffle in the rankings, as Mahindra managed to beat Hyundai to grab 2nd largest car maker in India. In fact, the gap between Tata Motors and Hyundai is also narrowing. Hyundai sits in 3rd position, while Tata Motors remains at the 4th position. Maruti Suzuki India Limited is the only constant and remains at the top of the chart with domestic sales of 163,501 units in February 2025.
