It is no secret that Mahindra is preparing to give major updates to its top 3 selling SUVs - the XUV700, Scorpio-N and Thar. The XUV700 facelift is rumoured to share interior changes with the XEV 9e electric SUV Coupe, while the Scorpio-N facelift and Thar facelift will share features and changes with the popular Thar Roxx.
First launched in 2022, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is likely to receive major update as a part of first mid-life update. The SUV will receive massive changes in terms of safety and comfort features. The biggest update will be the addition of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) tech, which will be sourced from the Thar Roxx and the XUV700.
The Scorpio N is the brand's global SUV and is on sale in Australia, where it scored just 0-star crash test rating from ANCAP in 2023. However, the SUV received full 5-star rating in Global NCAP test in 2022. To gain high scores in Australian NCAP, the Scorpio N needs ADAS features like autonomous emergency braking and lane support system. It will get Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Support System and others.
The Scorpio-N facelift is most likely to get the Panoramic Sunroof, which is available with the Mahindra Thar Roxx. Both SUVs are based on the same ladder-frame chassis, and the Thar Roxx is the first ladder-frame SUV to offer Panoramic sunroof.
The new Scorpio-N SUV is also expected to receive high-end comfort and convenience features which are available in other Mahindra SUVs. The SUV is likely to get features such as a 360-degree surround view camera, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with a wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
The new Scorpio N is an handsome looking lifestyle SUV; however, the mid-life facelift is likely to receive some changes. The SUV could get a revised grille and headlamp unit, along with new alloy wheels. The Scorpio N is also expected to receive a revised dashboard layout and new interior scheme.
The Scorpio-N facelift will retain the existing engine options including a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel. The gasoline unit produces 203PS and 370Nm of torque (380Nm with automatic). The oil burner offers two states of tunes - 132PS/300Nm and 175PS/370Nm. The torque increases to 400Nm with automatic gearbox. The diesel version offers 3 drive modes - Zip, Zap and Zoom.
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is available with rear-wheel-drive setup as standard, while 4WD system is available with higher-spec diesel variants. It will come in 4 terrain modes - Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Rut, and Sand. The SUV gets new 4 XPLOR 4WD system with a low-range mode.
