A couple of weeks ago, we had reported that Tata Motors had started accepting bookings for the upcoming Altroz iCNG. Now, ahead of its official launch, a latest media report suggests key specification details of the upcoming hatchbacks which have been leaked online. We take a closer look.
It is believed that Tata Motors will offer the Altroz iCNG in 6 variants namely XE, XM+, XM+(S), XZ, XZ+(S), and XZ+ O(S). The top-end trim will come packed with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, voice recognition, keyless entry and go, connected car tech, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, auto climate control, 8-speaker audio system, and more.
Showcased during the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo, the Altroz iCNG will be the latest addition to Tata’s CNG model lineup. It will be the third product for the brand, following the Tiago and Tigor iCNG. The premium hatchback will provide Tata’s dual-cylinder setup. This splits the CNG cylinders into two smaller 30-litre tanks under the boot floor, helping to free up the main boot area.
Visually, the Altroz iCNG will look very similar to its petrol counterpart, except for new CNG badging. There will be 4 colour options, Downtown Red, Avenue White, Arcade Grey, and Opera Blue.
New Tata Altroz iCNG will come powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine which will be capable of producing a maximum power output of 77 bhp with 96 Nm of peak torque. Unlike its petrol sibling, Tata will offer only a 5-speed manual transmission with the premium CNG hatchback.
Tata Motors is expected to launch the Altroz iCNG in India later this month, with deliveries expected to begin from May 2023. As mentioned earlier, you can book the new hatchback at a token amount of Rs 21,000.
While pricing is yet to be revealed, we expect it to cost Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh more than its petrol sibling.
