It indicates that compared to other cars in their categories, both the diesel and petrol variants of these Kia cars require less money for maintenance.

Recent research suggests that the Kia Carens has become a top choice in the family vehicle category, standing out for its remarkably low maintenance costs compared to other similar vehicles.
Both the petrol and diesel versions of the Carens offer significantly lower maintenance expenses, with petrol models being 21 percent cheaper to maintain and diesel models being 26 percent cheaper.
Moreover, the diesel models not only shine in terms of cost efficiency but also boast the lowest initial purchase price. Starting at Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Carens MPV provides two engine options; a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit and a 1.5-litre diesel motor.
This makes the MPV an appealing option for families looking for a reliable and budget-friendly four-wheeler without compromising on performance.

Next in line is the Kia Seltos which offers significant savings in maintenance costs. Its petrol variants have maintenance expenses that are 17 percent lower than the industry average. Similarly, the diesel versions of the Seltos also boast competitive maintenance costs.
When considering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), the Seltos closely follows the top performers of the segment, with the second-best TCO for its diesel trim and the third-best for its petrol variant.
The compact SUV comes equipped with a range of engine options including a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, and a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit delivering impressive power.
With prices starting from Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kia Seltos Facelift offers a compelling combination of affordability and performance for Indian new car buyers.
The report also highlighted the cost-saving benefits of owning a Kia Sonet subcompact SUV. Both its petrol and diesel variants boast maintenance costs that are notably lower than the average for similar vehicles.
Specifically, Sonet's petrol variants offer maintenance expenses that are 16 percent lower, while the diesel versions feature costs 14 percent lower than the segment average.
The Sonet Facelift’s petrol lineup comprises a range of engines, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill, and a 1.5-litre turbocharged motor. With prices starting from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kia Sonet presents an appealing option for those seeking a cost-effective yet performance-driven subcompact SUV.
