First launched in 2020, the Kia Sonet has been a huge success for the Korean automaker in the Indian market. The compact SUV received its first major facelift in the month of January, 2024. It comes with cosmetic design changes and upgraded interior along with more tech & safety features.
Talking about exterior changes, the Kia Sonet facelift has received maximum upgrades to its lighting system. It features new LED headlamps surrounded by new LED daytime running lamps, and new front bumper.
At the back, the small SUV has two C-shaped LED tail-lamps that are connected by an LED light bar. It also has a new rear bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler.
Inside the cabin, the new Sonet facelift has a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that is also offered on the new Kia Seltos. There is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, which is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with navigation.
Below the screen are the controls for air conditioning (AC), drive modes and traction control. Other features include a 360-degree surround view camera, cooled front seats, a Bose audio system, leatherette upholstery, a single-pane electric sunroof and more.

The most notable upgrade to the new Sonet facelift is the addition of the Level 1 ADAS or advanced driver assistance system. The ADAS tech offers features like front collision warning, front collision avoidance assist - Cyclist and pedestrian, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, leading vehicle departure alert, high beam assist and driver attention warning.
Adding to it, the 2024 Kia Sonet comes with six airbags, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard. It also has cornering lamps and a 360-degree surround view camera.

The Kia Sonet retains the engine and gearbox combinations from the pre-facelift model. Kia has relaunched the diesel-manual gearbox. The SUV is offered with 3 engine options - an 83PS, 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed MT, a 120PS, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol with 6iMT and 7DCT, and a 116PS, 1.5L turbo diesel with 6MT, 6iMT and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
The Kia Sonet petrol range starts at Rs 7.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.75 lakh (all the prices are ex-showroom. The diesel Sonet is available at a starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh which extends up to Rs 15.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Kia Sonet directly rivals the Tata Nexon and the Hyundai Venue. While the former is priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15.80 lakh, the Venue is available in the price bracket of Rs 7.94 lakh and Rs 13.48 lakh (ex-showroom).
