MG Motor India gives a glimpse into the design and features of the upcoming ZS EV Facelift.
Two years after its inception, the ZS EV was up for an upgrade. And to provide this electric SUV that extra bit of bling, MG Motor India has revealed its design and feature details ahead of the official launch expected to take place sometime this month.
In comparison to the original version, the 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift will follow the company’s global design language. This means that the new electric vehicle will offer an updated front fascia comprising a front-covered grill and charging socket placed to the left of the MG logo. There will be LED headlamps, DRL’s and a new front bumper design. Its sides will provide a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels while the rear will get a new tail-light design.
The interior of the SUV is expected to offer more features. These could include a bigger touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MG’s i-Smart Connected Car Technology. Similar to the MG Astor, ZS EV Facelift could get ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The system offers features like a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking among others.
Coming to the battery pack, then the updated version is expected to get a larger one. The current model features a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery while the facelift could come fitted with a bigger 51kWh battery providing an overall range of 480 kilometres on a single charge. As for the performance figures, they are believed to remain unchanged. Thus it develops 143 bhp of maximum power output with 353 Nm of peak torque.
Till date, MG Motors has sold close to 4,000 ZS EVs in the country. In the EV space, it currently holds 27 percent market share. With the ZS EV, MG offers its customers a 5-way charging ecosystem. These include a free of cost AC fast charger which can be installed at residences/offices, 24x7 charge on the go facility available in 5 cities, a portable in-car charging cable, DC superfast charging stations at dealerships, charging stations in satellite cities and tourist hubs. When launched, the 2020 MG ZS EV Facelift will go up against the likes of Tata Nexon EV and Hyundai Kona in its segment.
The new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 ZX variant is priced at Rs 2.31 crore, while the off-road spec GR-S variant is tagged at Rs 2.41 crore (ex-showroom, India).
