Audi has unveiled the upcoming Q6 e-tron’s interiors at the 2023 Munich Motor Show. The electric luxury SUV’s cabin represents the design rethink of the German automaker, which has adopted a ‘human-centric’ arrangement that focuses on ease of use and digital functionality.
The new Audi Q6 e-tron is the first model to be underpinned by Audi’s new PPE EV platform. This will allow for new packaging possibilities and the introduction of the new EV architecture means a total redesign of Audi cars digital interface. Audi Cars has also highlighted its designers’ focus on the driver and passenger’s real-world needs that will be reflected on the new interior.
Head of design Marc Lichte stated, "By understanding the interior as the centre of our customers’ lives and experiences, we are rejecting the status quo and systematically designing the vehicle from the inside out."
The Q6 e-tron’s dashboard is dominated by a 14.5-inch panoramic display for the infotainment system and an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster. Both the screens and the AR heads-up display are housed in a wraparound panel. There’s also an 11.9-inch additional display for the passenger that can set navigation routes and control the audio. To prevent distractions, the display is shielded from the driver’s POV.
Audi has also fitted an LED strip to the 2024 Q6 e-tron’s interior that runs around the whole cabin and has a brightness of 1200 cd. It serves three functions: welcoming occupants on entry, flashes along with the indicators, and displays the state of charge when the vehicle is plugged in.
The automaker’s digital assistant is now represented by an avatar in the display, and it can locate nearby charging points. The assistant can also adjust certain functions when summoned by the “Hey Audi” command. Audi states that the assistant can learn from the user’s preferences over time to offer “the best possible support” without being asked, such as automatically presetting the climate control.
Additionally, the Q6 e-tron’s interior features softwrap materials that are made with sustainable materials. Meanwhile, the instrument panel can be specced with either brushed aluminium or wood inserts.
While Audi is yet to reveal the production specifications of the Q6 e-tron, the concept uses a dual-electric motor setup that pumps out 470 bhp with 800 Nm of peak torque. Audi claims a range of around 600 km on a full charge and supports up to 270 kW DC fast charging.
Audi is expected to unveil the production form of the Q6 e-tron by the end of 2023 and will go on sale early next year. The Q6 e-tron will also get a Sportback version that will have a coupe-SUV design.
