• Facelifted Honda City is expected to launch sometime during 2023 • Likely to get minor styling tweaks and other features • Might skip diesel engine in favor of the upcoming emission norms
Honda City facelift has been spotted for the first time in India wearing a heavy camouflage. The prototype was last eyed in Thailand where it is likely to go on sale first. A few details of the facelifted version have now surfaced regarding its interior and exterior design. According to the leaked information, the facelifted Honda City has got some mild styling updates along with a rejig of the powertrain options.
According to the spy photos, the facelifted Honda has tweaked the design of the front bumper to be more aggressive with a larger air dam and fog lamp housing. Although there is no such image for the rear end of this model, it is assumed that the facelift version will have restyled bumpers even at the back. In addition, the updated four-wheeler model is expected to come equipped with an updated infotainment unit and Honda Sensing Technology in the top-end.
The updated version of Honda City is likely to come with only a 1.5-litre petrol and another 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid option same as the existing model. But unlike the existing model, the new car is going to ditch the diesel engine line-up as the brand is preparing to transition to BS6 Phase 2 norms. But for the fans of Honda's diesel engine, we expect the automaker to continue on sale after the launch of the new car. The expected timeline for the launch of the new model is before the end of 2023.
Honda has announced already that the current 4th generation City, WR-V, and current generation Jazz will be discontinued by April 2023. However, the City and Amaze will keep going and will be joined by an all-new Creta rivalling SUV, expected to be the HR-V.
