Toyota Owned Lexus India has showcased the fifth-generation of its most popular SUV, the RX in India. Designed to express a unique identity, the Lexus RX embraces new technologies, powertrains and design to impress.
Developed on the basis of the ‘Alluring x Verve’ concept, the exterior design of the RX is an evolution over the previous generation model. In the latest iteration, the car features a more premium sculpted exterior with sharp lines and angular creases. The front end features the typical Lexus look with the large spindle grille and sleek LED headlamps. Towards the side we get to see the coupe-like roofline of the SUV along with a large 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheel finished in matte black.
Moving to the inside, it is a familiar cabin that features the 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system that now comes with connected car technology for the first time on a Lexus India. Other equipment on offer include three-zone climate control, Heads-Up Display (HUD), and ventilated seats. Besides this, the RX model highlights the latest Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 Suite of ADAS technology including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assist, Forward-Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection, and more.
The fifth generation SUV is offered in two variants; 350h Luxury and RX500h F-Sport Performance. The RX 350h Luxury Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with hybrid transaxle and a rear E-Four electric motor, producing 247 bhp. The more powerful RX500h F-Sport Performance introduces a Lexus first hybrid electric system that integrates the high-torque 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with an e-Axle rear unit. The total power output of this system is rated at 366 bhp and 460 Nm of peak torque. The RX500h uses a DIRECT4 drivetrain which supplies optimal power to the e-Axles to provide maximum grip, traction and acceleration in all situations.
In terms of exterior colour options, the RX350h is available in eight exterior color options, featuring few exclusive colors such as Red Mica, Deep Blue, Sonic Quartz, Sonic Titanium and the unique Sonic Copper. In case of the RX500h, the car is available with an exclusive White Nova Glass Flake and Heat Blue exterior colour options.
