India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
As Tata Curvv EV, the Mahindra, Hyundai, and Maruti Suzuki are also in line to compete in this sizzling electric vehicle market of India. Here is a glance at what the automobile giants are planning to launch against the Tata Curvv EV.
The Tata Curvv EV has been launched in the Indian market in August 2024. The two variants of the car feature battery options of 45 kWh and 55 kWh. The price is between Rs. 17.49 lakh and Rs. 21.99 lakh, which indeed keeps it competitively placed in the market. The company offers fares in this range as high as 585 km on a single charge, along with premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system.
The Curvv EV comes standard with six airbags, an electronic stability program, and a comprehensive ADAS suite. There's also a sporty look with an aerodynamic design, 18-inch alloy wheels, and sleek LED headlights. With this offering, Tata has set a very high bar for incoming rivals.
By mid-2025, eVX will also be unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. Suzuki and Toyota have jointly developed the skateboard platform to develop this new SUV. The eVX will roll out first in Europe and Japan before hitting the markets here. The variant will come in two battery sizes, namely 48 kWh and 60 kWh, and it may offer a range of around 500 km on a full charge.
Going for a front-wheel drive unit, the Maruti Suzuki is likely to attract a plethora of buyers who would want it more for its flexibility and reliability than anything else.
Hyundai will be bringing the much-anticipated electric edition of the Creta SUV by early 2025 in the showrooms. The car would be based on a massaged version of the K2 platform while flaunting the closed-off grille and the aero-optimized alloy wheels.
A new model is said to carry a 45 kWh battery and a single electric motor. The combination will give an estimated mileage of over 400 km. A car that could attract the interest of tech-savvy customers will be the Creta EV. It shall boast of Level 2 ADAS, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and an interior design inspired by the Hyundai's Ioniq 5 model.
Foray into the EV market is making Mahindra build on its innovative platform, INGLO. First, with XUV.e8 and BE.05. The XUV.e8 is expected to hit the market by December of 2024 and appears to be the electric counterpart to the super hit vehicle XUV700, available with an 80 kWh pack and up to a maximum range of 450 km.
The BE.05 is an electric SUV of midsize, and it is due to be expected in October 2025. It would also have rapid charging, with the battery jumping from 10% capacity to 80% charging in at least 30 minutes.
Currently, Tata Curvv EV dominates the electric coupe SUV market, but competition in the coming months will surely get tougher with the offerings from Maruti, Hyundai, and Mahindra. All of them tread on different paths-be it space in Maruti, tech-appeal luxury in Hyundai, or power and fast-charging capabilities for Mahindra.
More customers are benefited by competition. It is electric SUVs that offer broad variants suiting varied tastes. Which way the contenders compete over such parameters as the country's market of EVs matures, that is, the requirements of consumers, both concerning design and range as well as offers, is something all are eagerly waiting for with bated breath.
