Mahindra has announced plans to launch 12 new SUVs – 7 petrol/diesel models and 5 electric vehicles (EVs) – by 2030. This news comes after the company recently launched the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, BE.06, and XEV 9e.
But the big surprise? Mahindra is now working on a hybrid version of the XUV700, even though it has previously said that hybrids are not a long-term solution and are too expensive. This sudden change has created confusion and sparked debate in the Indian auto market.
Mahindra had earlier stated that it sees electric vehicles (EVs) as the future and doesn’t believe in hybrid cars. But now, reports suggest that it is working with Volkswagen-Skoda to develop strong hybrid technology, which could power the new XUV700 hybrid.
This has led many people to question whether Mahindra is contradicting itself. Some believe the company is trying to play it safe by offering all options – petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric.
