Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled the new sixth-gen E-Class LWB. The sedan will go on sale in China soon, with the German automaker already confirming it will be coming to India by Q3 2024. We take a closer look at the differences between the regular E-Class and the new LWB variant.
The all-new Mercedes E-Class LWB will be similar in design to the regular model, with the differences only noticeable when the two sedans are side-by-side. The LWB’s rear doors are longer while the rear quarter glass is now positioned behind the doors, unlike the integrated one in the SWB model.
India will be the only market to get a right-hand-drive E-Class LWB, as the other markets it will be sold are all left-hand-drive. Additionally, the LWB E-Class will not get any AMG performance versions but will get AMG-line variants only with sportier styling.
Moving inside, the LWB E-Class gets Mercedes’ new Superscreen setup with three screens under a single glass panel on the dashboard. There’s a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch infotainment display, and a separate display for the front passenger as well. The feature will likely be standard on the top variants. However, Mercedes may not offer it in India since most E-Class owners prefer being chauffeur-driven.
While the interior layout is the same on the E-Class LWB as the regular model, the former gets new reclining rear seats with an ottoman function. This will be a welcome addition for new owners who prefer being driven around.

Mercedes revealed the set of powertrain choices on the new E-Class LWB for China. However, its six-cylinder petrol engine lineup likely won’t be coming to India. Instead, Mercedes may just offer the current petrol and diesel options on the next-gen E-Class, albeit with a few updates.
As mentioned above, Mercedes has already confirmed that the new E-Class LWB will be introduced in India around the second half of 2024. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Jaguar XF, Audi A6, and Volvo S90.
