Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown SUV manufacturer is planning to launch 3 ICE-powered SUVs and 2 new EVs in the Indian market in FY26. The company is reportedly to reveal an all-new platform on the 78th edition of Independence Day, that’s 15th August, 2025. It is expected to be the New Flexible Architecture (NFA), which is likely to underpin the next-gen Mahindra Bolero and Bolero EV.
Mahindra is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of the next-gen Bolero. However, media reports suggest that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero will be launched in 2026. Adding to it, Bolero based electric SUV is also under development which is also likely to arrive next year.
The next-gen Mahindra Bolero is reportedly based on the brand’s new flexible architecture (NFA), which will be a monocoque platform. The current model is based on the ladder-frame chassis and comes with leaf-spring rear suspension. The new NFA architecture will be modular in nature and could be used to develop 3 SUVs and the Bolero-based pick-up.
The new NFA versatile platform will be compatible with different body styles including SUVs and Coupes, and will support different powertrains including petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric. This platform will first make its debut in a concept, which could preview the brand’s next-gen Bolero. Previous reports claim that the homegrown UV maker plans to have capacity of 1.2 lakh NFA models per annum at its Chakan based plant. Adding to it, Mahindra is planning a new Greenfield plant for FY2028.
With the next-gen Bolero, Mahindra aims to further strengthen its position among the rural and semi-urban Indians. The current Mahindra Bolero is hugely popular among rural buyers, especially in the Central and Northern parts. It will also replace the slow-selling Bolero Neo. The 5-seater version will sit under 4 meters in length; however, a long wheelbase version will also be introduced. The LWB model is likely to be introduced as a 9-seater UV with 4 front facing seats, and it will rival the popular Force Citiline. The next-gen Bolero is likely to feature a 1.5L turbo diesel engine along with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine. A 2.0L turbo petrol engine is also expected to be on offer.
The next-gen Mahindra Bolero is also likely to get modern features like a touchscreen infotainment unit with smartphone connectivity, improved safety tech including inclusion of six airbags, and many more. The SUV will also have better NVH (Noise Vibration & Harshness) levels.
