Skoda has planned to showcase a new concept car, the Octavia EV which will be marking its debut at September's Munich Motor Show. This debut of the all-electric Octavia concept will be in estate form and show a new design language that Skoda might head. The concept would be based on Volkswagen Group's next-generation EV architecture.
At a media briefing for the brand's 2024 financial results, the CEO Klaus Zellmer said "In September in Munich, we're going to have a concept car that indicates what the new design language will be for the Octavia and what the technology in that car will be able to deliver.” The automaker had plans to originally launch the Octavia EV based on the current MEB platform.
The CEO said that now the concept will be underpinned by the SSP architecture which is claimed to offer more performance and efficiency. He also said to wait and see until September as the brand will show us the full potential and technical package that they envision.
As for the production version launch, it is likely that the Octavia EV will be in the market by the end of 2030. This model will become the lead for all next-gen Skoda EVs.
Apart from this concept, the brand is set to launch two more electric models prior to it. These EVs would be Epic crossover and a new 7-seater flagship SUV similar to Kodiaq.
It has been said by CEO Zellmer that a second electric Skoda vRS after the Enyaq vRS is in the works.
