In their latest iterations, both the Harrier and Safari have undergone significant changes both on the inside and the outside. On the outside, both models draw inspiration from the Tata Curvv concept showcased at the start of 2022. While the Harrier adopts a more dynamic and sporty design, the Safari replaces it for a more poised design that creates an impression of pride and confidence.
Characteristic elements on the outside include a new parametric grille, full-width LED light bar with dynamic swipe indicators at both the front and rear, a more muscular bumper housing the jewelled LED headlamps and large 19-inch alloy-wheels.
While the story on the outside is limited to minor cosmetic upgrades, the interiors tell a different story. The centre piece of the new cabin are the large screens – 12.3-inch for infotainment and 10.25-inch for the digital drivers displace featuring persona-based themes. Other new elements on the inside including ventilated seats, power adjust for the driver seat with memory function, dual-zone automatic AC, bejewelled rotary dial for selectable terrain modes, 10-speaker JBL sound system, rear door sunshades, powered tailgate with gesture function and a large panoramic sunroof with mood lighting.
Overall, the updates to the new SUVs has helped uplift their premium quotient and put up a strong case in their favour.
Despite featuring major overhaul, both the Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier are still based on the same OMEGA-Architecture derived from Land Rover’s D8 Platform. In terms of powertrain option, both models continue to come offered with FCA sourced 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine producing 170 bhp and 350 Nm paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with shift-by-wire system and paddle shifter.
In additions to all these updates, the biggest change on the new Tata Harrier and Safari is the advancement in safety. The cars now come offered with 6 airbags as standard (up to 7 on top variants), ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold control, electric power assisted steering, 360-degree surround view monitor, blind-spot monitoring, TPMS and a full ADAS suite. The new advanced suite includes features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward & Rear Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and more.
All these enhancements now make the Tata Harrier and Safari the latest 5-start safety rated cars for both adult and child occupants in the country.
