India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has just announced that it has temporarily halted bookings for the new Rumion S-CNG models. Essentially, a rebadged version of the Maruti Ertiga, the new Toyota Rumion was launched in August this year. However, the petrol variants of the MPV continue to be available for booking.
In a statement released by Toyota cars, the company acknowledged the “overwhelming response" for the Rumion and said, ‘It necessitated temporarily halting bookings for the CNG option, only to avoid customer inconvenience due to the longer waiting period.
The Rumion’s sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the best-selling MPV in India, with average sales of around 10,000 units a month. Similar to the Ertiga, the Rumion S-CNG models currently have a waiting period of around 6-9 months, while petrol variants have a 4-5 month waiting period.
The Rumion S-CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre N/A motor that makes 87 bhp with 122 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Toyota sells the Rumion S-CNG in a single variant, which is priced at Rs 11.24 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the Ertiga CNG, but Toyota offers a better standard warranty package.
