It is finally time to say goodbye to the legendary Polo. But before it leaves, here is a special edition to celebrate its farewell.
Volkswagen India has launched a special iteration of the Polo called the ‘Legend Edition’ to celebrate 12th anniversary of the hatchback in the country. The new end of life variant will provide a last hurrah to the icon and is limited to 700 units only.
Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition visual updates:
Volkswagen has slightly updated the new ‘Legend Edition’ styling to make it stand out from the regular Polo’s. The latest edition gets legend badges on the fender and the boot along with new side body graphics. In addition, it also receives a black trunk garnish and a black roof for added sportiness.
Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition powertrain:
VW Polo Legend Edition is only available in the GT trim with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. The engine produces a power output of 109 bhp and a peak torque of 175 Nm. An enthusiast’s car, the TSI engine offers affordable performance.
Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition features and safety:
The hatchback comes equipped with all the features available on the top end Polo. These include, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, auto AC, rear AC vents and more. A 4-Star rated car, the Polo Legend gets standard safety features like rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, hill-hold, and hill start assist (on the automatic variant only).
Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition Pricing in India:
The pricing for Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition remains the same as for the standard Polo GT and starts at Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Polo has been the highest selling and longest-running model for Volkswagen India. Production of the hatchback first started in late 2009 at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chakan before launching in February 2010. How do you feel about the end of production for one of India’s most loved hatchbacks? Do you want to see the icon return in a different form?
