Skoda Auto is entering the sub-4m segment by launching the Kylaq. Expected to launch in 2025, the Kylaq will be a direct rival to Tata Nexon. The compact SUV will get the first-in-class six-way adjustable front seats with ventilation. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, it will take power from the 1.0-litre TSI engine, mated to MT and AMT.
Seeing the growing EV market, Maruti Suzuki has also decided to come into this category. The brand will launch its fully-electric eVX SUV in the first quarter of 2025. It will be manufactured locally at Suzuki's plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Based on the new skateboard platform (jointly developed by Suzuki and Toyota), the e-SUV is expected to come with two battery packs; 48 kWh and 60 kWh, offering a maximum range of 400 km.
Hyundai's best-selling SUV, the Creta is currently on sale as an ICE version. But, it will now come in an electric avatar at the Bharat Mobility Show. The Creta EV could get a battery pack of 45 kWh with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. It is likely to offer a maximum range of 450 km. Its production will begin from December 2024 wherein the brand aims to produce 24,000 units per annum.
Honda will also introduce its new-gen Amaze sedan at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It will be built on the City's platform which will be a modified version. While its overall visual appeal will be the same as the current model, its interior could look like the Elevate SUV. The next-gen Amaze will be powered by the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, paired to MT and CVT automatic.
Tata Motors is planning to roll out new electric cars in 2025. Among these is the electric version of Harrier and the iconic Sierra which was earlier available on sale in the ICE version. Both Tata EVs will be based on Tata's new Acti.ev platform. The Sierra could also come in an ICE version which will be based on the new ATLAS platform first introduced in the Tata Curvv SUV-coupe.
Mahindra has solid plans to launch a series of new electric SUVs including BE.05, XUV.e8, XUV.e9, and BE.Rall-E. Mahindra BE.05 will be the first to come to be launched in January 2025. The XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 are basically the electric forms of popular XUV700 which will also be officially introduced in the same year. Besides, Mahindra BE.RALL-E could be launched later in 2025. The new Mahindra EV series will be based on the INGLO platform.
