Gets refreshed styling; Petrol Hybrid, Diesel and Electric powertrain options; Rear seat entertainment option gets a roof-mounted 31.3-inch screen
Months after it was first unveiled internationally, we have our first glimpse of the next-generation BMW 7-Series, courtesy some spy shots. Expected to launch in late 2023, the car was recently spotted camouflaged on a flatbed truck, ready for testing in India.
The G70 BMW 7-Series will be built on a heavily reworked CLAR platform that can now accommodate petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options. Internationally the car is available with petrol mild-hybrid, diesel and plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain options, but we expect BMW to offer the four-wheeler here with one petrol mild-hybrid and diesel engine at launch. Plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain options are expected to be introduced at a later date.
Like with all BMWs of the modern era, the 2023 7-Series front end is characterised by a large kidney grille. This is flanked by split headlamp setup with the LED DRLs housed above with the main cluster recessed below, similar to the design seen on the X7 Facelift. Towards the side we see two strong lines running from the front of the car to the rear, adding character to the four-wheeler’s side profile. Towards the rear, we get a redesigned LED tail lamp unit with horizontal tail light units accentuating the width of the car.
On the inside, the 2023 7-Series will incorporate the company’s new floating curved dashboard design with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. In addition, it will also get a new interior colour theme, new flat-bottom steering wheel and an optional 31.3-inch, 8K ‘Cinema’ screen for rear seat entertainment.
