Nissan India has updated the safety feature list for its most popular model in India, the Magnite. From April 2023, the subcompact SUV will be the only offering from the automaker in the country, with the Nissan Kicks set to be discontinued. We take a closer look at the updated Magnite.
Nissan Magnite used to already offer dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and Rear Parking Sensors as standard fitment across all variants. Now, the Japanese automaker has added equipment like Electronic Stability Control, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Hill Hold Assist, Vehicle Dynamic Assist and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to all trim levels. Higher variants of this SUV also get a reversing camera, surround-view camera, keyless entry, and ISOFIX mounts.
In terms of creature comforts, the four-wheeler provides features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, wireless charging, push button start/stop, and a six-speaker audio system.
The Magnite is offered with two powertrain choices which have been updated to meet the upcoming BS6 Phase 2 Emission Norms. The first one is a 1-litre naturally aspirated engine making 71 bhp with 96 Nm of peak torque while the other option is a 1-litre turbo-petrol motor pumping out 99 bhp along with 160 Nm torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
Currently, prices for Nissan Magnite start from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level XE trim, going up to Rs 10.94 lakh (ex-showroom) for the fully-loaded Turbo CVT XV Prm Opt DT variant. Expect Nissan to hike these prices by around Rs 20,000 for respective variants.
In India, it competes against other subcompact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and the Maruti Brezza.
