It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki is working on a wide range of new models including hybrids, EVs and facelifts of existing models. The company will introduce the eVX concept based electric SUV, Fronx hybrid, new-gen Dzire and the 7-Seater Grand Vitara before the end of 2025.
The 7-seater Maruti SUV will be based on the Suzuki's Global-C platform, which also underpins the existing Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The platform will be tweaked to accommodate a longer wheelbase SUV. Toyota will also launch the 7-seater version of the Hyryder SUV, which will share its underpinnings with the 7-seater Grand Vitara.
The new 7-seater Toyota Hyryder SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and others in the category. It was speculated that Toyota will launch the 7-seater version of the Corolla Cross; however, the plan has been shelved due to high investment. This SUV won't come as an affordable 7-seater SUV and would be positioned against the Jeep Renegade and Skoda Kodiaq. This won't make any sense in the highly competitive and cost-sensitive Indian auto market.
Toyota is now focusing on launching the 3-row Hyryder SUV, which will fill the gap between the Hyryder and the Innova Hycross. It is expected to be offered in both 6 and 7-seat layout with the former offering captain seats in the second-row. The SUV could also receive high-end features including ADAS tech.
The upcoming Toyota Hyryder 7-seater SUV will continue to be offered with the existing 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson Cycle petrol engine. This engine produces 101.6bhp and 117Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.
