After a long hiatus, BMW India has finally launched the second generation M2 in India. Offered as a CBU model, prices for the two-door high-performance sports car starts at Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 2023 BMW M2 features an aggressive design that is accentuated by the wide fenders at both front and back. The sporty front-end features M Frameless kidney grill, sleek LED adaptive headlamps and large rectangular air intakes for optimised cooling.
The race car inspired design features muscular wheel arches and flared side skirts that is characteristic of BMW M models. In addition, the car also sits smart on stagged wheel setup that features 19-inch rims at the front and 20-inch at the rear.
Moving to the rear, the aggressiveness continues with the all-new bumper with rectangular air-outlets. The new bumper and the air-directing element create a pared-back racing looking which is another signature M element. Other interesting bits include dual centre exhaust, large black diffuser and a boot lip spoiler.
Like with all BMW models, the 2023 M2 also features a driver centric cockpit design. Equipment on the inside include 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch central information display, electrically adjustable M Sport seats, dual-zone AC control, Easy-Entry function for the front seats among others.
Offering a 2+2 configuration, the new M2 gets 40:20:40 split rear seats and a large 390 litres boot space. The seats are upholstered in Vernasca leather and can be ordered in either Black or Cognac colour schemes.
The new M2 comes powered by a twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder petrol engine that is rated for a maximum power output of 453 bhp and peak torque of 550 Nm. This unit comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox as standard while a 6-speed manual can be ordered as an option.
Direct rival to the BMW M2 in India is the Porsche 718 Cayman.
